Film IS fun!

A few other photographers and I went downtown to photograph a model. She is gorgeous and we had fun with the different dresses she brought to wear.
This is my first roll of film that got sent off to the lab. I am very pleased with the results! I did absolutely nothing to these pictures- no editing, cropping- nothing. I wanted you to experience with me first hand the wonders of the lab!

We started inside:

Then we headed outside after she changed into my favorite dress. I love the colors in it:

 

Film, and a Short Story.

These are some more film pictures that I took. I was reading on the frond porch and got in a creative mood so I decided to play around with film a little more. I need to find a person to practice on as well to get a better grasp on how all of this works, so if you are willing to be a volunteer please let me know :)

That is the little angel guarding the garden in my front yard.

Have I mentioned that I like mirror pictures? Well, I do. I like them a lot. This is a mirror form my mom's bathroom that I snatched so I could play around with reflection.

This is the top of my mailbox. I like the symmetrical design it creates. So I took a picture of it, of coarse!

One time a school bus (like the one below), backed into our mailbox, causing it to tumble and crash into the bushes surrounding it. The bus driver failed to tell us of this tragic event. Over the next few days, the bushes died. A few days later when he showed up to repair it, and another mailbox was built in place of the old one. There, wasn't that a great story? So glad I could entertain you for a moment.

Film Work- Prop: Converse

Here are some film pictures I took of a pair of my converse. I created them on converse.com. I love my converse. I also have a gray pair that I just got purple laces for. I love purple, too!

 

I don't like the way the shadow turned out on this pictures, but I decided to post it anyway, since I'm still learning the ropes with film. 

I was trying to be creative, so I tied my laces together and tossed them over a tree branch :)

I have been learning a lot about film (thanks Neal), and I am going to try to branch out and shoot in manual for my next roll. We'll see how that goes! There is so much that I don't know about film and so much to learn. I'm excited to experiment and practice!!

Spring Break

I got back from my spring break trip late yesterday afternoon. I had so much fun! The family I went with is so sweet and such a blessing. We went to South Carolina to go hiking and enjoy a break from school work.

We ended up only hiking one of the days we were there because the weather was bad.
We hiked the first day. It was a rainy, foggy day, but we were ready to get out on an adventure. What we thought was going to be a short leisurely hike, turned into a 4 hour, 10 mile hike!! 10 MILES. in the cold. Yes, we made it back alive. It was quite an adventure!!

Then the next day (on the only sunny day of the week) we didn't hike because we were pooped from the day before. We enjoyed just hanging out shopping, swimming at the club and being together. I had so much fun and I am so glad I got the opportunity to go on the trip with such a GREAT family!

I know I promised pictures, but it was so yucky all week that I don't have any to share with you ( i know, bad excuse), but here are some more film pictures that I took a few weeks ago.

My Pretty Kitty

Here are some pictures of my pretty kitty, Kassie. She likes to accompany me while I read on the front porch rocking chair. She is so frisky, and very rarely will she let you pet her for long. She is a strange cat with an odd meow. I'm not a huge cat person, but I don't mind them. Cats don't seem to like me very well either. 

* These were taken with my VERY FIRST roll of film. Kassie was my first subject to shoot.

 

I got her to look up by dangling my fingers above her head. It worked!

- I won't be blogging for a while. I am headed out of town for the week to be the designated babysitter with This Family. We are going hiking almost everyday, so I am sure I will have some pictures to share when I get back.

Film Pics- Colorado

This is for those of you who held me to my word:
Ok, Now as you view some of my first film pictures, keep in mind that these are in fact, some of my FIRST film pictures. I am learning. They aren't great (a little underexposed), but hey I'm having fun. Film is a whole different ball game for me, which makes my mom laugh because she grew up using film only. I'll get it down, eventually. I'm looking into getting a light meter soon, so that will help for sure.

This is the view from my brother's apartment, early morning.It had just snowed 2 inches the night before. I can;t imagine waking up only to find that it had 'only snowed 2 more inches over night'
"Oh, no big deal. Just 2 more inches to add to the feet of snow covering the ground."

I don't remember exactly where I took this, but look at those cute little lodgy-type houses. I would love to live in one of those. Wouldn't you?

Here's the whole family, posing on a look out that we went on quite an adventure to find. Gorgeous view. I am still convinced that the mountains are fake, but then look at what a great God we serve!

And here is my brother, being the 'Mountain Man' that he is, with no fear of heights or drop offs whatsoever. He had us all scared out of our minds as he walked along the edge of the rocks like it was nothing. Me, oh my. You gotta love him :)

Mrs. Kerinsa took some family portraits of us on the look out. Ah, we has so much fun. She is living the life that I dream of living one day, as a photographer in Colorado. She is wonderful, and has helped me tremendously. She's such an encouragement. I'm excited to see the pictures she took of us!! :)

So there they are, some of my first film pictures! I will post some more soon. I got a bunch developed along with these, the other day. I'm sure they'll get better and better as a practice more.
